GETTING STARTED

Gather as much family tree information as possible.  Ask family members for help.  Strive to record full names, places and dates of birth, marriage, death and burial.  Adoptees, ask your adoptive parents (if possible) what they know about your birth parents.  Ask for copies of any records they have retained relevant to your adoption.  Send for "non-identifying information" about your birth parents.

STEP 1 -  GATHER INFORMATION
STEP 2 - DNA TESTING

Order an autosomal DNA (atDNA) test from one of the three major testing companies.  I recommend the following tests, in this order: AncestryDNA; FamilyTreeDNA; 23andMe.  Test with all three companies, as you're able to afford to do so. to increase your DNA matches.  Upload your DNA raw data to GEDmatch.com

STEP 3 - CONTACT THE COACH

Once you've gathered information and have received your DNA test results, contact me.  Join my group on Facebook:  The Genetic Genealogy Coach - Finding Your Families of Origin with DNA.   This is a great place to ask questions and communicate with some of the people I have assisted. Different people require a different level of assistance.  Request a Free Consultation to share information about your case and determine which services are right for you.
